BASICS

So, someone in your family wants a puppy!
Some things to take into consideration are; Breed, Responsibility, Training.

  • Activity Level
  • Characteristics of the Breed
  • Grooming
  • Size

Sources for research: Internet, magazines, responsible breeders, veterinarian’s
and professional trainers.

(Note the optimum age to bring a pup home is from 8 to 12 weeks of age.)

Responsibility

  • Feeding
  • Health (Regular Veterinarian Exams)
  • Training
  • Housing

All are essential in order to have a happy enjoyable pet.

Training

Train your new friend! Not training him, her would be like not educating a child. The price you pay for quality instruction will pay off quickly when you think of the shoes not chewed, the children not pushed over or nipped, and the lack of frustration when the pup is house trained quickly. Begin training or educating your pup the minute you walk into your home. That doesn’t mean he needs to answer the phone on one leg, but a few basic rules will get you both off to a good start.
